WALL STREET PROJECT AND THE NEW YORK TIMES JOB MARKET TO COLLABORATE ON 2006 DIVERSITY CAREER OPPORTUNITY AND DEVELOPMENT EXPO

January Job Fair for Minorities is Expected to Be Largest
In Ninth Year of Annual Wall Street Project Program

NEW YORK, Nov. 22, 2005 – The Rainbow/PUSH Wall Street Project, an initiative of the Citizenship Education Fund, and The New York Times Job Market announced today they will collaborate to produce the Wall Street Project/New York Times Job Market Career Opportunity and Development Expo to be held Jan. 9, at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. Now in its ninth year, the Expo, held in conjunction with the annual Wall Street Project Conference, is an opportunity to bring talented minority men and women together with corporations who share the belief that inclusion in the workforce leads to economic growth.

“We believe events like this one help level the playing field for diverse candidates by allowing them to establish their place as valued contributors to the workforce,” said the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., founder and president of the Citizenship Education Fund. “We are thrilled to be combining forces with The New York Times Job Market on this year’s Expo knowing that together, we will make this job fair better than it has ever been.  As I have always said, there is not a skills shortage, but an opportunity shortage for minorities in our country.”

“The New York Times Job Market is the best source for employers to find the best candidates, and we are delighted to be working with the Wall Street Project to bring together talented people and good companies,” said Guy D. “Doc” Holliday, vice president, advertising sales, of The New York Times. “Partnering with the Wall Street Project, we intend to make this year’s Expo larger and more successful than ever.”
The New York Times Job Market is a national leader in serving the multicultural community with career opportunities in print, online and in person; it has hosted highly successful diversity career fairs that have attracted thousands of top-quality candidates.  The Wall Street Project was launched in 1997 on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday to challenge corporate America to be more inclusive.
The Expo is free and open to the public; however, all attendees must register in advance by visiting the Web site www.nytimes.com/rainbowpush.
Companies that wish to participate in the Wall Street Project/New York Times Job Market Career Opportunity and Development Expo should contact Mark Szollar, Managing Director of Recruitment Advertising, at 212-556-3656 or mszollar@nytimes.com.

About The Wall Street Project
The mission of the Wall Street Project (WSP) is to challenge corporate America to invest in minority vendors, consumers and employees.  The Wall Street Project is the outgrowth of Rev. Jackson’s nearly 40 years of work in increasing economic opportunities for minorities.  The WSP uses the Breadbasket model of research, education, negotiation and reconciliation  to promote inclusion, opportunity and economic growth by encouraging public and private industries to improve hiring and promotion practices; name more minorities to corporate boards; allocate more business to minority companies; and increase the amount of business minority firms conduct with each other. For more information about the Wall Street Project, please visit the organization’s website, www.wallstreetproject.org, or telephone 212-425-7874.  To interview Rev. Jackson about this topic, please call 773-373-3366.
